Awakening to Ego and Consciousness

All humans have an ego and a consciousness. Ego is the “I” we all think we are. We are all conscious that there is a me. All humans are conscious that they have an ego.

All humans have an ego which is subconscious… below conscious… which humans can only vaguely describe… because ego is subconscious.

All humans have a subconscious and a conscious. This is irrefutable. If humans have a conscious (what humans know), then there has to be a subconscious (unconscious, what humans do not know). 

Now the words, ego and consciousness have been around for hundreds of years, yet few comprehend them. For most, they are only a vague idea of something. In other words, humans know very little about themselves, since the “I” is subconscious. This is the reason for all of the large and small tragedies that have occurred throughout history… humans not understanding themselves.

In order to help humans better comprehend their ego (subconscious) and their conscious, Middleway will use terms that allow humans to comprehend using personal experience and not words.

Ego is ASS, Adolescent Survival Self

Consciousness is ACS, Adult Conscious Self

Using acronyms instead of words allows new comprehension to occur. The meaning of the acronym is a reminder of who each part is… Adolescent Self and Adult Self. Both can be comprehended from personal experience. Ego… Adolescent Survival Self (ASS) is the person before age 17. Consciousness… Adult Conscious Self (ACS) is the person after age 17. 

The reason humans are so confused about themselves and other humans is because humans think they have only one self, when there really is two of them… ASS and ACS. 

Now, humans will moan and groan, saying that that is a bunch of baloney… a pile of poop. This occurs because humans have thoughts and believe their thoughts. Here is the irony… humans will claim that ASS and ACS do not exist, yet all humans treat children and adults differently. Humans recognize that there is a mental difference and children act more spontaneously, more subconsciously, and are less conscious of their actions. That is a who ASS is… humans up until 17 years old.

Humans also recognize that adults should be treated differently, with many societies calling those above 17 years old, adults. Other than a small difference in age, that is who ACS is… humans older than 17 years old.

So, what was thought of as baloney is actually something all humans already believe… humans are children (ASS, until 17) and become adults (ACS, after 17)… with one small difference… the word “become”. Become would imply that subconscious becomes conscious… and that rarely occurs. That is why humans resist acknowledging ASS and ACS… because the subconscious rarely become conscious.

In summary,

Humans have a subconscious and a conscious, which could be called the child (more subconscious) and the adult (more conscious). Middleway uses the acronym ASS (Adolescent Survival Self) for the child, and ACS (Adult Conscious Self) for the adult. 

Ego is ASS and Conscious is ACS. Ego can now be known from personal experience… what you were like until age 17. Conscious can now be known from personal experience… what you learned (became conscious of) after age 17. 

The confusion that humans have is that they see the child turn into an adult… this is what occurs on the outside (on the surface, what is seen). What is invisible is what occurs on the inside (what cannot be seen). To see what occurs on the inside requires a different kind of sight… the inner eye… the eye that sees inward. That is what Middleway has used to see ASS and ACS… two selves.

For those who refuse to acknowledge their two selves… this might prove helpful. Only seven animals can look in a mirror and see their reflection. Put a dog in front of a mirror and it will ignore it’s reflection. In the same way, Middleway is holding up a mirror and very few humans are able to see their two selves. Their eyes (ASS) tell them one thing and Middleway tells them (ACS) another, and ASS prevails… since they do not see their two selves in the mirror.
