War is wrong.
Whenever a people or country goes to war, they always portray themselves as the people in the Right. The actual fact is that they are the people in the Wrong. Jimmy Carter said this about war, “War is evil, but sometimes it is a necessary evil.” Leaders, who portray their people as being in the Right, are clearly delusional. When a people go to war, nobody is Right. People think war produces heroes, but what it really produces is killers (see Killing). Medals are given out to help to encourage soldiers to kill. People raised on competitive sports might think of war like a football game, but how many would like football if half the players were killed on the field. That sick comparison is the reality of war (see Competitive Sports).
It is never Right to kill others. Animals try to defend themselves from attack. But, when defending, one should not exceed the force necessary to stop the attack. Sometimes, that defense may require killing the attacker, but that does not make it Right.
Some people, especially the religious, may have a hard time accepting that war is wrong. To them, that would mean that anyone who fought in a war would go to hell as a killer. The religious are the ones who need to be convinced that war is Right, because they are fighting evil (see Evil). Because religions teach dualistic thinking, this method of propaganda is especially effective on them (see Dualistic Thinking, Propaganda).
War has escalated into the rampant killing of soldiers, along with civilians. The war machine is so massive, that killing occurs miles away from the victims. Death has been abstracted to mere estimates of casualties. Armies become proud of their Surgical Battles, because thousands of people can be killed, but little blood is seen. These are people who have lost their sense of humanity. This happens because American soldiers are effectively “brain washed,” during basic training, to kill whoever and whenever they are told (see Propaganda).
Bush accused Hussein of being evil when he gassed his own people. But Bush openly advocates executing his own people (Texans) when he was governor. Bush claims to be a religious person, but if God could look down and see Americans killing and being killed, daily, in Iraq, I can’t imagine him being anything but totally disgusted with humans.
Unless we start using our intelligence, and start suppressing the animal in us, we are doomed. Soon, the only protection a foreign nation will have from naked U.S. aggression will be a nuclear bomb (we may already be at that point). The U.S. Empire, over the next sixty years, will expand to control every other nation, except other nuclear powers. Eventually, the U.S. will try to control even those nations (see Neo-cons). If a relatively clean nuclear bomb could be made, then the U.S. would swiftly strike with those bombs, in the hope of knocking out any means of defense. Russia and China, with enough nuclear bombs to incinerate the planet would require a different strategy. We would place a strangle hold on them, an embargo of all the outside resources that the U.S. had control over. Little by little, they too would be consumed into the U.S. Empire. This would occur even faster if the U.S. is able to create even more deadly new weapons. I’m sure that scientist and engineers are already hard at work on them. Bush is hard at work on a “Bunker Buster” mini-nuclear bomb. Isn’t it odd that same “Bunker Buster” might be used as a “Silo Buster” in a first strike, nuclear war? Isn’t it odd that our missile defense program could also be used to help protect us if we were to attempt a first strike nuclear attack? Isn’t it odd that we are hard at work creating a new nuclear attack submarine that is designed to destroy foreign submarines, should we attempt a first strike.
The U.S. Military/Industrial complex, that President Eisenhower warned us about, has grown into a trillion dollar monster that now seems to determine U.S. policy. As long as the people don’t see that monster, they don’t believe it exists. The monster is very good at camouflage and it hides behind Top Secret walls, but it still casts a huge trillion dollar shadow. Try to see where that trillion dollar shadow leads and you will feel the wrath of that monster. Currently, the U.S. spends more on its military than all other nations combined. Close to half of each Federal Income Tax dollar goes to pay for the U.S. military or to pay that portion of the Federal debt that exists due to military expenditures. The military/industrial complex has taken over indirect control of the government, but it might not be too late to get it back (see Greed).
War is wrong, but until we realize that, we will continue to go to war.
